A new 'kinky hotel' which opened in a Southampton suburban street has been forced to close after residents signed a petition to stop it operating.

Club Kiss, which hosts swingers and features two "superbly equipped" dungeons, offers its guests the use of five themed playrooms including a lockable "Heaven room".

It opened just weeks ago in a quiet suburb on the outskirts of the city, causing outrage among many residents. The local council received a petition with than 1,000 names complaining about the opening, as well as 150 letters of objection, according to reports in the the Daily Mail.

Southampton City Council has confirmed that it has now ordered the club to be closed, after unanimously refusing an application for retrospective planning permission.

But Club Kiss owner Martin Millar has vowed to fight the ruling. Speaking to the Mail, he said: "We are simply opening a hotel which is also open to those who enjoy an alternative lifestyle."

"The average age of those attending will by 40-plus - it's not going to be youngsters who may get drunk and be too noisy."
