Porthcawl, Bridgend
 "I was really surprised by how great the beaches at Porthcawl in South Wales were. I knew that Swansea had recently had a beach listed as one of the best in the world, but just a little further along the coast they seemed to be less known but just as great. In particular, Rest Bay was a lot more picturesque than I expected, as was the Glamorgan Heritage Coast in general." Sophie Cook

 "I did a three-day break to Chicago and loved it! I went for the Lollapalooza music festival and also managed to fit in a river cruise, an open-top bus tour, plenty of shopping and eating.... as well as a bit of time at the festival.  "We wanted a mountain biking trip in the UK and found MudTrek in Wales. They offer a fully-catered mountain bike experiance with off-road guided rides and really good food after a day's riding. Wales has a lot of mountain bike trails and bike centres, but for real off-piste riding it's a true gem! We had a really great ride at the Black Mountains. Aside from the biking, it was the food, the location and the fantastic barns (appartments) that made the trip." Jeroen Hoek

 "I went here as a surprise for my birthday. The best thing about Barcelona is that you have the city and the beach right next to each other. The food was amazing and I really enjoyed the cafe life. There is so much culture there; Park Guell featuring architecture by Gaudi was fascinating but my favourite was a tour of Camp Nou, Barcelona's football stadium." Ash Rose

 "Absolutely amazing food and spas. Although it can be crowded it's a good place to escape to. There are decent restaurants and it's pretty during the day for wandering around the town.  "Amsterdam is a fun city with plenty to do for a girly weekend away. Me and my friends went to the Van Gogh Musuem, Sexmuseum and House of Bols. The House of Bols was an unexpected find. If you're going to the Van Gough Museum, you may as well visit the House of Bols after, where you get to sniff, guess and test different spirits. You also receive your very own complimentary cocktail made in front of you and if you really want, try spinning your own concoctions!" Sayha Sam

Stockholm, Sweden
 "I spent five days in Stockholm with two friends and stayed in a very cool place we got from Airbnb, and although Sweden can be very expensive we got a good deal for 150€ each a week for a two-bedroom flat. It was Stockholm Pride and the city was buzzing with parties. Everyone was great and welcoming. It was about 25C and we enjoyed great shopping and ate amazing kottbullar (meatballs)." Cynthia Kambou
Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire
 "I visited Moreton-in-Marsh when it was Christmas time and snowing. The village was so all lit up and it has great tea shops as well as boutiques to mooch around. There is a dedicated cheese shop too for foodie lovers. There is so much history in and around the Cotswolds and it doesn't take long to get to the next chocolate box village - there was always something to see." Jo Gallagher

 "I had a great four-day holiday with friends in Lisbon last March. We stayed in a really funky hostel which was homely and convenient and our room had an Andy Warhol theme. We were close to the sea and hired bikes one day and cycled across the city and took the bikes on a ferry. That was the best part of the holiday." April Moore

Zadar, Croatia
 "I had a great time in Zadar, Croatia. We were a group of 10 so it was a good laugh. We stayed right in the middle of the busy town and one day took a ferry down the coast and toured the city the other days. We had some amazing seafood and met some great locals who took us out to an amazing party the second night. Everyone was very friendly." Chris Anipole
Lake District, Cumbria
 "My short break to the Lake district was brilliant. We stayed in a holiday cabin that was kind of in the middle of nowhere so we had to drive everywhere. We went for a walk one day and walked for hours before finding a pub - that was an adventure! It was nice being in the countryside with hardly anyone else around. We drove to the towns of Penrith and Carlisle, and past Lake Windermere on the way home, which we hope to visit next time." Steve Maidstone
