- 5. Santorini, Cyclades<p> Draped around a crescent-shaped lagoon, Santorini was formed after a massive volcanic eruption. The black volcanic beaches of Perissa and Kamari are big draws. Santorini also produces some of the best capers, tomatoes and split peas in the Med. Think volcanic lakes, rum distilleries, coffee, cacao, vanilla and ylang ylang plantations and endless coral reefs. For a taste of tropical wildlife head to the <a href="http://www.travelmadagascar.org/PARKS/Lokobe-Reserve.html" target="_blank">Lokabe Reserve</a> to spot endangered black lemurs, pigmy kingfishers and panther chameleons.</p>

- 10. Guernsey, Channel Islands<p> It may only be 12 miles long, but what Guernsey lacks in size it makes up for in scenery. Britain used to fight with their French neighbours over this strategically placed island jewel, but nowadays the only battle you'll face is where to eat.
