A travel company is offering the ultimate package holiday taking in all 962 UNESCO World Heritage Sites on a two year trip. The only catch is that it will cost you a cool £990,000 in what has been dubbed the world's most expensive holiday.

The Evening Standard reports that for almost £1million, adventure travellers will get to see around 1,000 of the world's most famous tourist sites, from the Great Wall of China to the Grand Canyon.

The two-year trip of a lifetime is being organised by London-based Hurlingham Travel and includes business or first-class travel on all flights and accommodation at the world's most famous luxury hotels, including the George V in Paris and the New York Plaza. It also includes a £5,000 donation to UNESCO.

The Daily Mail reports that the holiday, offered by Veryfirstto.com, will visit breathtaking landmarks, such as India's Taj Mahal, Cambodia's Angkor temples, the pyramids of Egypt and Mexico and the Inca site of Machu Picchu.

Some of the lesser-known spots covered by the package include the Armenian monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin and the historic mosque city of Bagerhat in Bangladesh.

Andrew Barker, managing director of Hurlingham Travel told the Evening Standard: "This is certainly the most exciting trip we have ever organised and is the most remarkable travel adventure imaginable."

Marcel Knobil, founder of VeryFirstTo said: "There is no doubt that this will be one of most thrilling, memorable and inspiring experiences a couple could ever wish for."

Sweet dreams! Hotel made of cake opens in LondonA rug made out of meringues. Rex

A hotel with fittings and furniture made out of cake has opened in London promising sweet dreams for its guests.

The unusual hotel was created by sugar company Tate & Lyle and was open to sweet-toothed guests for one night only.

Visitors were encouraged to eat their way through the sweet furniture, which included windowsills built from fudge, a bath filled with caramel-coated popcorn and an edible rug made out of meringues.

It was the work of 14 artists who spent more than 2,000 hours baking and 900 hours decorating to create the edible hotel.

Up to 600kg of sugar was used and the art was spread across three floors and eight different themed rooms.

The tasting rooms included a Pirates of the Caribbean room with a treasure chest full of edible pearls, ginger-spiced doubloons and cutlasses, as well as a South Pacific room with a two metre-high Easter Island statue made entirely from chocolate mud cake.

James Whitely at Tate & Lyle told Rex Features: "We think the cake hotel perfectly captures the excitement, inspiration and expertise behind the creation of our new range of golden and brown cane sugars.

"We hope that through the cake hotel we can showcase the versatility of golden and brown cane sugars and inspire people to get creative in the kitchen."

Barbados is 'unsafe' for women says MP

Barbados is 'unsafe' for women says MPStock photo/Getty

An MP is claiming that Barbados is unsafe for British tourists because local police have failed to properly investigate the rapes of two British women.

Diane Davies, of Anglesey, and Dr Rachel Turner from Hertfodshire, were raped within days of each other in 2010.

A man was arrested and charged shortly after the incident, but both women testified that the man was not the attacker, waiving their right of anonymity to clear his name.

Since then, the authorities have stopped investigating the crimes.

Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage, is calling for the cases to be reopened. He told the BBC: "I firmly believe that Barbados is not a safe place for British women to travel as there is a rapist on the loose. The police have failed to reopen the case.

"The Foreign Office should update their travel advice and make it clear that Barbados is not a safe place to travel and warn British tourists to stay away. Maybe then the authorities in Barbados will make the police reopen the case and find this rapist."

He has also called on the island's authorities to make a public apology to the women.

The concerns about the safety of the island come just a week after a British couple were shot during an armed robbery in the capital, Bridgetown.

The Barbados Tourism Authority said in a statement: "We take any incident very seriously. Barbados is a friendly and welcoming country with more than 250,000 British tourists each year. But like every country in the world, some crimes will occur. Our absolute priority will continue to be the safety of our community and our visitors."

The Foreign Office website says: "The majority of visits by British nationals are trouble-free. However, incidents of violent crime including murder do occur. There have been serious attacks on foreign visitors, including armed robbery and sexual assaults."

Budapest revealed as best value city break

Budapest is the best value city breakBudapest, Hungary. Rex

Budapest is the best city for a cheap holiday, a Post Office Travel Money survey has revealed.

The Hungarian capital powered past Riga and Prague to claim the top spot in the annual City Costs Barometer and has emerged as best value in the survey of 25 cities.

At £134.76 for 12 typical city break items - including meals, drinks, two nights' weekend accommodation, sightseeing and city transport costs - prices in Budapest are less than a third of those in Europe's most expensive cities - Stockholm (£420.36) and Copenhagen (£440.45).

The survey found that, along with Prague, Budapest is the only city where the holiday pound is worth more than a year ago because sterling has risen 3.1 per cent year-on-year against the Hungarian forint and 2.9 per cent against the Czech koruna.

The cities tipped as ones to watch in the Post Office Holiday Money Report are Lithuania's capital Vilnius (£140.99), Warsaw in Poland (£151.69) and capital of Latvia, Riga (£155.34).

However, the report revealed that prices have risen in 22 of the 25 cities surveyed, with Vienna, Boston and Stockholm seeing the biggest increases.

Berlin, Prague and Lisbon have seen prices drop, and lower sightseeing prices in the Portuguese capital, where spending money will stretch 19.1 per cent further, make Lisbon the cheapest eurozone city.

Andrew Brown of Post Office Travel Money said: "Rising prices in most of the cities we surveyed, combined with the falling value of sterling, make it more important than ever to check prices for key items like meals, drinks and sightseeing before booking as these are costs that most city break tourists cannot avoid.

"There are big price variations across Europe - not just in the eurozone. This means UK holidaymakers can make their pounds stretch further by choosing a cheaper capital like Lisbon or Budapest and it seems that many people are doing just that as Post Office sales of Hungarian forint have surged by 141 per cent in the year to date, compared with 2012."

Croatia was named another 'emerging' destination and despite a 12.9 per cent rise of city breaks to Dubrovnik (£168.20), the city remains one of the best value options. Other up-and-coming cities included Moscow, Krakow and Abu Dhabi.

The most expensive city in the survey was New York (£541.23).

Rare flat rainbow pictured streaking across Paris skylineBarcroft

As if the vista of the Eiffel Tower wasn't dramatic enough, a rare flat rainbow provided an even more majestic picture of the City of Love last week.

The horizontal rainbow, known as a fire rainbow, was pictured above the Paris skyline by a photographer who managed to capture the Eiffel Tower being bathed in its glow.

Parisian Bertrand Kulik, 32, spotted the unusual display out of the window of his apartment in France's capital.

He quickly grabbed his camera, and framing it against the iconic Eiffel Tower, captured the city's skyline.

The phenomenon was brought on by heavy rainstorms that lashed Paris last week, and is caused by a unique combination of the sun's position and the shape of ice crystals in the air.

Très romantique, don't you think?

Delighted tourist gets a kiss from a 30-tonne gray whaleBarcroft

An extremely lucky tourist had a very up close and personal encounter with a 30-tonne gray whale in Mexico.

The 40ft gray whale - and its curious calf - stunned their guests by drifting in for hugs and kisses.

The heartwarming photographs were captured by photographer Justin Hofman off the coast of Baja California, Mexico.

Mr Hofman, from California, told Barcroft Media: "This is the most amazing wildlife encounter on the planet. It's impossible not to smile and laugh at these incredible whales.

"There are lots of gray whales that are friendly and seek out contact, not just one individual."

He added: "It's a very powerful experience when a whale is looking into you.

"The number one comment I hear afterwards, besides that they feel so weird and rubbery, is that people say the whale looked right at them.

"People walk away fundamentally changed after an experience like this."

Gray whales migrate more than 5,000 miles from their summer feeding grounds in the Bering and Okhotsk seas of the Arctic.

They use the relatively warm waters off Mexico to give birth, mate and nurse their newborns.

The naturally curious species has made a dramatic recovery since it was nearly hunted to extinction in the early part of the 20th century.

Video: Rare baby giraffe stands up for first timeLEO Zoological Conservation Centre/YouTube

A rare baby giraffe was filmed standing up for the first time in Connecticut, America.

In the video, the Rothschild giraffe was captured getting to her feet after several failed but adorable attempts.

The Huffington Post reports that the unnamed female calf was born on 22 March at the LEO Zoological Conservation Centre (LEOZCC), a preservation refuge and breeding centre for rare, threatened and endangered species.

The arrival of the adorable animal sparked interest in the rest of the giraffe herd, who eagerly gathered to greet the newcomer, LEOZCC said on its website.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the calf's six-year-old mother gave birth after a 15-month-long pregnancy.

The baby was able to stand up within half an hour of her birth so that she could start nursing.

She is the first giraffe ever to be born at LEOZCC, but more are expected later this spring.

The centre has asked the public for suggestions of names for the newborn.

Beautiful rare baby Rothschild giraffe born at Chester ZooChester Zoo

Keepers and conservationists at Chester Zoo are celebrating the birth of a rare giraffe.

The Rothschild giraffe calf - the world's most endangered sub-species of giraffe - was born on 25 March to first-time mum Orla after a 14-month pregnancy. She weighed in at 52kgs.

Beautiful rare baby Rothschild giraffe born at Chester ZooChester Zoo

Despite being just a few days old, at six feet tall, the youngster - which keepers have named Millie - is already towering over them. Chester Zoo's curator of mammals, Tim Rowlands, said: "For a first-time mum Orla is doing a superb job so far. She really does seem to be taking motherhood all in her rather long stride.

"Millie was up on her feet within just a few minutes of being born and she began suckling from mum not long after. Already she is strong and tall which is really pleasing.

"Rothschild giraffes are very, very rare indeed and so careful, managed breeding programmes in zoos and wildlife parks are vital for their long-term future. We're therefore obviously delighted with our newcomer."

Beautiful rare baby Rothschild giraffe born at Chester ZooChester Zoo

According to conservationists there are now less than 670 Rothschild giraffes left in the wild, following the loss of their traditional habitat in their native Kenya and Uganda and their poaching for their meat. The species is the most endangered of the nine sub-species of giraffe.

As well as its breeding successes, Chester Zoo has also supported important projects in the wild, including the first ever scientific review of the Rothschild giraffe with the aim of developing a long-term conservation strategy for the species in Africa.

The giraffes are known as Rothchild's giraffe, being named after zoologist Lord Walter Rothschild, founder of the National History Museum in Tring, Hertfordshire.

The species is identified by its broader dividing white lines and has no spots beneath the knees.

Back at the zoo, the new calf is the latest in a long list of endangered species to have been born in the last six months.

Two endangered Asian elephants, two critically endangered black rhinos, two critically endangered Sumatran orangutans, an okapi and two giant otter pups, as well as Kanzi, another Rothschild giraffe, have all been part of the zoo's recent baby boom.

And long may it continue.

Find the best cheap cruise holidays for autumn/winterCunard

Ever made a fuss about the sea being too loud on your cruise holiday? Or there not being a window to sea in the inside cabin you requested? A travel agent has revealed the funniest complaints from cruise passengers over the past 12 months.

The most unusual was from a lady on a Mediterranean cruise who said the sea was too loud and claimed it prevented her from having a decent night's sleep during her holiday. She suggested the cabins be "better sound-proofed against the sounds of the sea."

bonvoyage.co.uk revealed the hilarious complaints, which included a man who voyaged on a summer cruise around Alaska complaining about the weather not being as warm as he expected. He said he expected to be able to "swim in the swimming pool each day" and "get an impressive tan".

The man stated that "all cruises are meant to be hot", and so sought compensation for having to buy warmer clothing as he "had only packed minimal clothing for the expected hot weather."

A woman on a Celebrity Cruises ship asked bonvoyage.co.uk for a full refund in June last year because she didn't see any celebrities on board. The woman said the company was guilty of "false advertising" due to the lack of stars.

In another complaint, a woman on a cruise departing from Southampton said that she had to re-schedule her whole holiday as she was not aware of the fact that she was supposed to take her passport with her on the cruise. She apparently thought she only needed her passport when going on a fly-cruise and blamed the cruise company for not texting her the day before to remind her to take her passport.

A woman on a Hawaiian cruise told the customer service team she had heard Gary Barlow was once on the same cruise she had ventured on but failed to see him on the ship this time. She demanded an explanation as to why he was not on the same cruise again this time.

Steph Curtin, Cruise Development Manager of bonvoyage.co.uk, said: "As an online cruising agency, we always try to provide the best customer service possible for our customers; whether it's regarding their comfort on-board, the information they get before getting on board or all the services and entertainment available on the ship."

She added: "The vast majority of feedback we get from our holidaymakers is hugely positive, usually telling us what a great time they had, but from time to time we come across a few quirky complaints that we can do little to help. Whilst we always make sure we go back to every complaint, I'm afraid we can't be held responsible for the sea being too loud or the lack of celebrities on board; as much as we wish we could put Gary Barlow on every cruise!"
